2012
THIRD GRADE RECORDER ACTIVITIES

There will be no Recorder Class homework assignments required this year. We will be able to cover all of the fingerings and rhythms that we need to during our school "recorder day" which is Monday of each week. Students wishing to take the recorders and learning materials home to work independently are welcome to do so, but the recorders, fingering chart, and all sheet music must be brought back to school on Mondays for our recorder class.

Students receive a passing grade for recorder day by simply having their materials in class, but a failing grade for the day if the materials are forgotten. (We are endeavoring to teach our students to be responsible! We know this is a precious character quality that our parents wish to impart as well.)

PLEASE NOTE:  Be sure that you do not write the letter names of the notes in on your sheet music. Those letter names are to  be memorized.

FOURTH GRADE RECORDER ASSIGNMENTS

2013
DUE 4/15/13: "Are You Sleeping" measure 5 only ten (10) times per day.

DUE 4/08/13: No assignment. Enjoy your Easter break!

DUE 3/25/13: No new assignment due to our quarterly testing. Students may choose to continue practicing the assignment that was checked 3/18/13, but since it is not required it will not be inspected.

DUE 3/18/13: No recorder class today. Thus, there will be no new assignment due to our quarterly testing. Students may choose to continue practicing last week's assignment, but since it is not required it will not be inspected.

DUE 3/11/13: Play "Are You Sleeping" measures 1-4 seven (7) times per day.

DUE 3/04/13: Play the notes "b-a-g" in that order ten (10) times per day. Lay your recorder down and pick it up again for each set of b-a-g notes. This is to practice locating the fingers correctly.

2012

DUE 3/21/12: No new assignment for today. In fact, students need not even bring recorders, practice charts, or music. Instead, we will take care of make-up tests and continue getting the foundation laid for our spring cantata.

DUE 3/14/12: "Are You Sleeping" - just measure 5 - ten (10) times per day. Students may substitute one checkmark for every five tallies of practicing if they wish to save space on their Practice Charts. This is the same assignment as last week, but with less repetitions.

DUE 3/7/12: "Are You Sleeping" - just measure 5 - twenty (20) times per day. Students may substitute one checkmark for every five tallies of practicing if they wish to save space on their Practice Charts. PLEASE NOTE that I told the students the wrong due date; I had them write down 3/8/12 by mistake.

DUE 2/29/12: "Are You Sleeping" measures 7-8 ten (10) times per day.

DUE 2/22/12
: "Are You Sleeping" measures 1-2 two (2) times per day; measures 3-4 five (5) times per day.

DUE 2/15/12: "Are You Sleeping" measures 1-2 five (5) times per day.
Be sure that you do not write the letter names of the notes in on your sheet music. Those letter names are to  be memori
zed.
Be sure to have your recorder, fingering chart, sheet music, and Practice Chart (initialed by a parent) on Wednesdays for our 1:30pm class. Students receive a grade based on how responsible they are in bringing their materials to school and practicing at home.
